The Beach in Tampa – Free August 5-25

A beach is coming to downtown Tampa…wait, what?!? Check this out from The Vinik Family Foundation!

beach tampa

The Vinik Family Foundation invites Tampa Bay to share in an interactive architectural installation that will bring a beach to downtown Tampa. Created by Snarkitecture, The Beach Tampa is a 15,000 square foot immersive environment featuring an “ocean” of 1.2 million recyclable and antimicrobial white balls. Open to the public at no cost, The Beach Tampa begins August 5, 2016 and runs through August 25, 2016 at AMALIE Arena.

The Beach will be staged in an all-white enclosure made of construction materials including scaffolding, wall panels, and perforated mesh, creating a sense of wonder and anticipation, while also recalling a boardwalk beach arcade. Visitors of all ages are encouraged to go for a “swim”, enjoy the view from the water’s edge, or stroll along the pier. The shore will be a site of relaxation and activity, complete with monochromatic beach hut, beach chairs, umbrellas, and other beach activities for visitors. The 75-foot wide shoreline opens up to an ocean of balls enclosed within mirrored walls that will create an infinite reflected expanse.

The white balls comprising the ocean are protected with GermBLOCK, a safe, powerful agent that provides antimicrobial protection for guests against 50 different germs and bacteria for the life of the ball.

“We’ll be kicking off our National Donut Day festivities on Wednesday, June 1, by hosting a day of events on our Snapchat channel (dunkindonuts)! Events include a donut design lesson from members of our culinary team, special recipes featuring donuts (duh), and a chance to capture donut-themed prints for your phone! Additionally, our fans will have the exclusive opportunity to ask our Director of Research and Development, Paul Racicot, any donut-related questions that come to mind!

Next, fans can tune in via Facebook Live on Thursday, June 2nd at 6PM as we’ll be showcasing how we create our delicious donuts, from start to finish. Dunkin’ Brands’ Manager of Donut Excellence, Rick Golden, will be hosting and showing you how to make our donuts LIVE from our secret test kitchen! Be sure to watch and submit your questions throughout the event and we’ll do our best to answer as many as possible.

Finally, there’s no better way to show your friends how you’re celebrating National Donut Day than with our Snapchat geofilter! Our National Donut Day geofilter will be available on Friday, June 3rd at any DD location! Our filter will feature original donut designs and sayings! So snap, send and share your excitement for National Donut Day with our geofilter!

We hope you partake in one of these great virtual National Donut Day activities! If not, that’s ok! Just make sure you get your FREE classic donut with any beverage purchase this Friday, June 3! Happy National Donut Day everyone!”
